Movie Night

Boone went golfing with his brother this evening after I spent the day school shopping with Maddie. It was just me and the kids, so we had a movie night. Maddie was so excited that I let Easton & Kenzie stay up for the event. We watched "A Shark's Tale." Madison picked this movie because she thought it would be scary. Ever since we told her she couldn't watch E.T. because it was too scary for little girls, she has been obsessed. She asks almost every day to watch it. So, knowing that this movie was a comedy, I went along with it.

Watching a movie with three kids under the age of four is very um.....shall we say amusing? Maddie sat in the middle of the couch with her Zip-loc bag of pretzels with strict instructions to share her snacks. I only did this because if Kenzie has a bag of snacks, Easton throws a fit to have one and "Big Man" inhales his bag of snacks which is hazardous! So, the movie went something like this:

Kenzie: "Shark, mommy!" "Oh, big shark!" "Look, mommy did you see that?" "Snacks Maddie, more snacks, more snacks!" (If you've been around Kenzie at all you know how animated she is!)

Maddie: Ignoring everyone around her.

Easton: "UGH" "UUGH, UUUUGH, UGH." (If you've been around Easton, you know and recognize his grunting in place of words!) He grunts this and points at Maddie's Zip-loc bag.

Mom: "Um...hey Maddie share your snacks." "Maddie?" "Maddie?" (I grab the bag and distribute snacks.) "Why don't we call daddy and see what time he is coming home."

Maddie: "EVERYBODY, QUIET!"

This scenario continues for far too long until Maddie speaks up and says, "Mom, I think it's dark and Kenzie needs to go to her crib, and Easton too." (Her excitement for them to watch the movie didn't last long.)

It was a memorable night and I even remembered to snap a few photos.

Three tough weeks....

The last three weeks have been crazy! I have been sooooooo sick. I started a third round of antibiotics yesterday. This one is really strong and should kill pretty much any bacteria in it's path. The doctor thinks it is Bronchitis/Sinusitis. I am so exhausted from being sick. I cough at night which keeps me and anyone else in the house awake. I have resorted to sleeping in the basement on the couch, so Boone and the kids won't hear me cough. Anyway, I look forward to being healthy again. Sooner rather than later! At least my kids haven't come down with it. I am grateful for that.

August 20th would have been my dad's 65th birthday. It was a hard day for our family. We miss him more than words can explain. We took flowers to his grave and I spent some time with my mom. It is still such a weird feeling to see his headstone and to know his body is there. It is a beautiful headstone and my mom did a wonderful job. It was hard for her to decide what to put on it. Especially because it is her headstone as well. Anyway, another hard day came and went. Here are some pictures of the headstone:

Happy Birthday Little Kenzie Bean!

We celebrated Kenzie's 2nd birthday today. She had a good day playing with her brother and sister. When daddy got home we went to eat. After eating, we visited Grandma Jeniece. Of course she had presents to open there. The day ended at home with cupcakes and more presents of course. She even received a phone call from Grandpa & Grandma Allen who were out of town. They sang happy birthday to her on the phone and she loved it. Now it's off to bed. Sweet dreams Birthday Girl!

Just one picture, please!

On Sunday, the kids were all dressed up and ready for church. A great time for a picture, right? Who am I kidding? I have never been successful at getting my kids to pose for pictures. I've tried everything. They end up fighting, Boone and I end up arguing, and someone always ends up in tears. I guess it was Easton's turn for the tears. So, this is how our Sunday photo shoot turned out.
This could have passed for a picture. Too bad it's out of focus. Try again!
Where's Easton at? Try again!
We found Easton, but the camera wasn't fast enough and the tears were making an appearance. Try again!

Red eyes and an attitude. Maybe we'll try again next Sunday!

The Best of Friends!

All of our children are miracles and we feel blessed to have them, but honestly when we found out I was pregnant with Easton we were more scared than anything. A recap on the situation for those who might not know.

Two days after returning home from adopting Makenzie who was a newborn, I discovered I was pregnant. I had been pregnant before Makenzie was even born and didn't know it. Completely natural and unexpected after the doctors gave us a 1% chance of it happening without any infertility help. That's right, a 1% chance of it happening natural.
Anyway, the point of my rambling is that we were so scared and didn't know what to expect having two so close together. We worried about spreading the love between two babies and keeping our sanity at the same time. Those with twins know what I am talking about.
Well, the pictures below say it all. Kenzie and Easton love each other and we wouldn't have it any other way. Now that they are toddlers, it is so fun to watch them interact and play together. They are the best of friends!

Teething is the pits!

You would think that having a dad that is a dentist you would get "Special" treatment when you were teething, right? WRONG! We have to suffer just like everyone else. I have said several times while Easton has been getting molars, "Hey Boone, why don't you just give him some shots and numb his gums?" Boone just laughs and rolls his eyes at me. Oh well, let's just give a shout out to Tylenol and sleepless nights!

Swimming Lessons

Madison took swimming lessons for the first time. She has no concept of the water being deep and being able to drowned. The first day I took her she asked if she could just jump in. While in class and the teacher wasn't watching, she jumped in and several other teachers had to come to her rescue. Even after those experiences she still didn't get that she could drowned. She has no fear of the water. It's unbelievable! Here are some pictures:
